Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States

Service to our Country, Service to our Veterans

It is not about us, the local veterans.  It is about those who are serving today and coming home soon.  The Veterans of Foreign Wars was started because our veterans of the Spanish-American Wars were forgotten when the guns fell silent.

Our organizations history is full of great moments where our veterans gained recognition and the respect for their service.  Notable successes are the Veterans Administration, the GI Bill, our Veterans Hospitals, and others.

We are the largest veterans group and the oldest.  We are chartered by Congress. Membership is not restricted, but you do have to be a veteran who served in a foreign war...after all, that is our name.
